MONESTEVOLE 4 Day RETREAT
14th - 18th June 2017

Restore, Relax, Renew

The Retreat:

This 4 day retreat is the ideal way to way leave your day to day routine behind, immerse yourself in the beauty of your surroundings and relax. Give yourself the time for a twice daily yoga practice to restore & renew and nurture your body with nourishing meals made from locally grown organic produce. This retreat offers you a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience community spirit at its best.

About Monestevole:

Monestevole - a home, a farm, a sustainable community.
This small, traditional Umbrian community live in a beautiful 15th century farm hamlet. The property sits at 600 meters on top of a hill surrounded by 40 hectares of olive groves, pastures, oak forests and a vineyard. The vision at Monestevole is to build a model sustainable community in the Green Heart of Italia that celebrates the best of traditional living, providing a beautiful and inspiring location in which to explore and connect with an authentic way of life.

Yoga:

The theme of the retreat is Restore, Relax and Renew. Our daily sessions will integrate the healing qualities of Hatha, Therapeutic and Restorative Yoga, along with simple breath work, myofascial release and guided relaxation to help restore balance to all the systems of the body, promote deep relaxation and encourage the natural renewal processes.

I see Yoga as a vast treasure chest that, through our practice, we can open up and explore how to access and cultivate our own inner resources such as wisdom, strength, ease, peace and balance.
When we practice with this intention we create resilience, the ability that no matter what the body & mind experience it can be seen from a place of safety and ease. This not only helps develop a safe and effective yoga practice, more importantly it's a vehicle to personal growth.

Morning yoga sessions are energising and integrate mindful movement, therapeutic yoga interventions, myofacial release, simple breathwork and postural alignment to help release, stabilise, strengthen and build awareness and connection to the inner wisdom and natural healing capacity of the body.

Evening sessions will be based on restorative practices and guided relaxation to promote deep relaxation, access our natural dimmer switch to restore balance to all systems of the body and encourage the natural renewal processes  of the body.

Group size is restricted to a maximum of 10.

FOOD:

Food is organic, grown locally, traditional and seasonal. The meats are grass fed from the Umbertide valley; the pork, wine, extra virgin olive oil, jams, tomato sauce and veggies are all from Monestevole’s permaculture gardens. They grow farro and legumes to make whole grain bread and pasta. They rear and grow enough food to sustain 25 people all year long.

ACTIVITIES:

There is plenty to do in your spare time at Monestevole. Lend a hand in the mandala gardens, in the greenhouse or in the winter garden. Help with the daily meals, make bread, pasta or pizza in the outdoor wood oven. Feed the animals, collect the eggs and milk the cow when possible. Make essences, soaps and body creams. Climb Monte Acuto or Migianella; walk to the water dam for a swim and picnic or visit the abandoned Monestevole Castle. There are also trips to the local markets, neighbouring organic farms and bee-keepers. Day trips to nearby  places of interest can also be arranged. Or you can relax around the pool, in the gardens, on a terrace or in a hammock!
