I have been in the health and wellness industry for more than 25 years and teaching Yoga for over 17.. I'm registered with Yoga Alliance and have acquired an excess of3000+ hours teaching experience, earning my E-RYT 200 certification .
I started practicing yoga to help heal a back injury which I believed was the result of the physical stress and impact created by my job as an aerobics teacher/personal trainer and my passion for running and weight training. My yoga helped but I was never really without pain or some kind of discomfort. In 2012 I was drawn to Integrative Yoga Therapeutics. This style of yoga has been a major transformation to both my teaching and my own self- study. It led me to understand the aches, pain and discomfort we feel are the result of physiological and emotional patterns within us and are messages the body uses to highlight the need to change. Ignoring these messages can lead to injury, illness, anxiety, depression and low self esteem.
We all have the ability to learn new patterns to change, the key to this change - awareness. Awareness can help us tune in and respond to the very subtle messages the mind-body network sends. In my case I ignored those messages in my day to day life always "pushing myself" to be a better wife, mother, friend, yoga teacher and more importantly the one place where change has a chance to be created - during my yoga practice, always pushing for "the perfect pose". Now my yoga is about an inward listening and feeling into the messages my body is sending. I trust that inner wisdom and respond by using simple therapeutic interventions or tools to help bring balance to my body and mind.
I believe Yoga is a powerful, easy to learn and portable method of attaining good health and well- being. It's my passion to teach in a way that EVERY BODY can develop that capacity to connect, respond and change.. This empowering way to practice yoga doesn't need to stop on the mat, the tools and techniques can be brought into our day to day life where the real opportunity for transformation can develop.
